What You Think About God Reflects on How You Live

A right conception of God is basic not only to systematic theology but to practical Christian living as well - A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy.

Think about it. A right view of God is not just based on how we study him, which is what a theologian does, but is also based on how we live as Christians. Do we treat God as holy when we are not in a church service or do we only believe that we must act right in a church service? I know Christians who think that people must act a certain way in the church. I heard parent said the word "stupid" is a strong word for church. So I can say "stupid" outside the church, like my house in front of my kids, but I cannot say that in a church building. I remember someone asking me if I want my kids not to misbehave in church. My response is I do not want my kids to misbehave at all

One of the strong oppositions that non-Christians have against the church is that the church is full of hypocrites and at times they are right. Why do I say that? Because many people who attend a church service have a wrong view of God. They live as if there was no God even though they believe in God, which Craig Groeschel talks about in his book,The Christian Atheist.

We have heard of countless stories of pastors who have committed adultery with the secretaries or view pornography, and it seems to get worse. These are men who have been trained to be good pastors, but their view of God is very shallow. They think God can forgive them and not repent after they confess their sin.

What is your view of God? Do you believe that God is not only watching you as you worship him in a Sunday service as well as you surfing the Internet? Let that sink in for a minute. Do you view God that he is only confined in a building so you can live however you want outside that building?

What we think about God reflects how we live in day to day living. You maybe a great theologian, but stink in your own sin because your view of God does not go along with the God of the Bible. You maybe a preacher of the gospel and encourage repentance, but have no repentance in your heart because you think you are on the "God Squad."

I pray that your view of God will change. I pray my view of God changes everyday that is in lines with Scripture so that I can conform to the likeness of Christ. One way you can change your view on God is to open the Bible. I mean really open the Bible and dive in. Ask the Holy Spirit to put in your mind what sin is in you that you need to confess to God and repent. It does no good to confess your sins and not repent. Without repentance of sin, your confession is worthless.
