Enemies of the Heart by Andy Stanley

Enemies of the Heart by Andy Stanley is about learning the emotions that control you and how to break free from them. These emotions are such as guilt, anger, greed, and jealousy. The book talks about how to deal with these emotions, but I felt that it was more of a self-help book than a book geared toward the gospel. In case you were wondering why this book sounds familiar, its because this book was originally titled, It Came From Within, which came out in 2006.

As I reading this book, I felt that there was little gospel. No dependance on the Holy Spirit to guide us to change nor clinging to the cross so we can rest in the mercy of God. Stanley does a good job presenting his points, but like a lot of "seeker" church, it is used with very little scripture.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
