Book Review: What a Son Needs From His Dad by Michael O'Donnell

Every new father, and even those who have been a dad for a while, have often asked themselves, what am I doing? When they look at their son, they wonder what do they need to teach them. Then they begin to wonder what kind of person they turn out to be. These are legitimate concerns for all fathers because parenting can be difficult. No child ever came with an owner's manual or an extended warranty.

Michael O"Donnell talks about what Fathers need to do to be a good biblical role model and teacher to their sons. O'Donnell has been involved in different area of family ministry and is a father so he comes with experience in this area.

O'Donnell addresses several issues such as what kind of family are you raising, to your expectations of your son, and even talking about sexuality with your son without freaking out. Lets face it, some dads are not looking forward to the birds and the bees talk with their sons. There is even a chapter on how to be a good citizen in the country they live, which you normally do not get that in most parenting book.

I found this book very insightful. There is a lot of great material for Pastors and Bible teachers to use when discussing families. This is also a good book to give to first time fathers if they have a son. Its an easy read and very user-friendly.

I was given this book by Bethany House for the purpose of review.
