It is not a sin for most of us to be something other than a preacher or missionary. The question with regard to our obedience is this: In the sphere to which God has appointed you (in consideration of your calling, circumstances, gifts, and graces), are you prepared to speak a word for Jesus Christ? If you are not, it is sin. It is sin to keep silent when those around us are dying. None of us should imagine that we are so curtailed or crippled by circumstance or calling that we cannot fulfill this obligation to witness. What are you thinking even now? Are you trying to ignore the reality of these things? Are excuses beginning to mount up in your brain? Are you thinking that you are the exception to the general rule that applies to everyone else, or how particular circumstances in your life somehow remove this obligation from you? Are you trying to slope your shoulders?
