Book Review: Sex and Money by Paul David Tripp

We live in a world full of temptation when it comes to those two words in Paul Tripp's latest book, Sex and Money. Our world is full of pressure to embrace sex as gift to be used as much as we want to. Casual sex is all over our culture. TV shows show teens its okay to have your "first time" when you become a certain age.

When it comes to money, there is temptation to love it more than life. Can I make enough money so I can live a luxurious lifestyle. Yet, we have seen athletes who had lots of money filing for bankruptcy. Our culture tends to communicates that you have to have a lot in order to be somebody in this world.

Seasoned counselor and Bible teacher, Paul Tripp teaches about these two issues and shows us from the Bible how they corrupt us. Tripp was being honest when he said after writing this book, it revealed his own heart and how it is corrupt which screams his need for the gospel. Tripp stresses that our world has gone crazy with sex. He gives examples such as porn being "the most powerful economic engine of the World Wide Web" and the number of news reports of teachers having sex with their students.

Tripp explores explores what sex means to God and how sex exposes our deep longing for God. He indicated that sex was about worship, relationship (with your spouse), and obedience, and not about ourselves. This book also deals with the issue of money and how our culture just loves money. The Bible says the love of money is root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10), which shows us why so many people who are rich tend to be in trouble with the law or are now broke.

Once again, Paul Tripp delivers a book not only used by God to expose our hearts, but also gives us hope in the midst of a world gone crazy. If you struggle or know someone struggling with Sex and Money, this book will be a great helpful resource for you to use.

Thanks Crossway for letting me review this book.
