Thanksgiving 24/7

Two weeks from today is Thanksgiving where every seems to not only break their diet they promised they would keep at the beginning of the year, but also a time where people give thanks. They are many reasons people give thanks on this day. Good health, family is safe, job is secured, etc. There is a trend on Facebook, where people take the whole month of November express what they are thankful for.

As Christians, we do not have to wait till Thanksgiving to give thanks to God for the things he has done in our lives. The Bible tells us that we should be thankful all the time. Thanksgiving should be an everyday affair for Christians. Here a just a few verses on giving thanks to God:

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High (Psalm 7:17)

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High (Psalm 9:1-2)

In God we have boasted continually, and we will give thanks to your name forever (Psalm 44:8)

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name (Psalm 100:4)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 4:6)

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him (Colossians 3:15-17)

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

We do not have to wait for one day out of the year to give thanks to God. Thanksgiving should be a 24/7 event for all Christians.
