Book Review: Jesus Continued by J.D. Greear

There are many Christians who wish that they can either wish they can go back in time, see Jesus face-to-face, and learn from Him, or have Jesus physically next to them as they live out the Christian life. People always pray that God be with them wherever they go and/or whatever they do. I have been in worship services where people ask the Lord to come in the room to meet with them. The truth is the presence of God is always with those who are truly children of God and He is right beside you wherever you go.

Jesus promised when He left this earth He will send an Advocate that will be with us and reminding us His teachings. That Person is the Holy Spirit. The main idea behind J.D. Greear's latest book, Jesus Continued, is why the Holy Spirit inside you is better than Jesus beside you.

Greear talks about who the Holy Spirit is and the importance of having Him with us in the Christian life. Greear addresses the Holy Spirit as the forgotten part of the Trinity which seems to be the norm in some Christian circles. He goes to talk about experiencing the Holy Spirit through the gospel, as you read the Bible, using your gifts the Spirit has given you, in a community of fellow believers, and through circumstances.

When it comes to the Holy Spirit, He is misunderstood. There have a great books written about Him. Some are deep theological books while some are just give a simple introduction. Greear's book serves a simple introductory guide to the Holy Spirit as well as teaching what the Bible says about the, as Francis Chan puts it in one of his books, Cinderella of the Godhead.

Thanks Booklook Bloggers for letting me review this book.
