Why Does It Matter That God Is Our Father?

We call God, "Father." Jesus told us to begin praying by saying, "Our Father is in Heaven" (Matthew 6:9). Romans 8 tells us we have been given "the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!'" (Romans 8:15). Just as we have been given the right to become children of God because of our faith in Christ, we have been given the right to call God, Father.
