Book Review: Liberating King by Stephen Miller

Stephen Miller is a worship leader and has written many great worship song, which may never get played on Christian radio. He wrote a book a couple of years ago, calling worship leaders to lead their church to worship Jesus and not make much of themselves. If you listen to Stephen's music, that is what he sings about.

Stephen has come out with a new book which is shares the title of his latest album, Liberating King. The subtitle of the book says, "Breaking Free from the Tyranny of Sin." Jesus is the Liberating King who breaks the power of cancelled sin, as an old hymn says. He also sets us free from the bondage of sin. Jesus said, "If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed" (John 8:36).

In this book, Miller shows his readers that Jesus has free (those who are redeemed) or can free (those who are not saved) us from worry and fear. He also show us how we are free to serve Christ in His mission around the world. We are also free from the cycle of sin even as we struggle in the battle against the flesh.

Some may look at the title of this book and think Miller is one of those name it and claim it writers. I can assure you that Miller is not one of those writers. He is a gospel-centered writer, not just in books, but in this music as well. This book makes much of Jesus and how He can set us free from sin other things that are keeping us from conforming to the likeness of Christ. This is not a complex book so this would be a great one to go through with a believer struggling with a certain sin. This would also be a good one to go through with a lost person.

Thanks Baker Books for letting me review this book.
