There are times in the Christian life where we wish we can see God or feel God's presence especially when we suffer. When we suffer, we wonder where is God in all of this. We know that God is Omnipresent but we just don't sense His presence.
God in His word says He is with us and will never leave us. David Bowden has written a practical book that is just right for this discussion. The book is called When God Isn't There.
Bowden writes that even though God is not physically present where we can see Him, He is there in our midst. Bowden tells his readers that due to the Fall, we are not able to God's physical presence yet He is everywhere in all creations. We can seek God even when times are tough and He seems a million miles away.
Bowden takes time to write about God's presence in the church. Many in the church thinks that if the right song is sung or if the right prayers was prayed, God will be there. That is not true. God is present in every church no matter the song or the style of the service. Bowden even wrote about how many have misused Matthew 18:20 to mean that if two or three are gathered during worship, God is there. That is not what the text says and Bowden talks about the context of that verse. Bowden concludes with the gospel. The gospel is about God becoming a man. God came near to man by becoming one Himself.
If you have ever wondered about why you ever felt God is absent, this book will help you realize He is not. A much needed book for this topic.
Thanks Booklook Bloggers for letting me review this book.
