You have heard it said that the Bible is not a collection of books telling different stories, but it is one story in one book. We see the whole Bible points us to Jesus Christ as the One who died in our place given to us by God the Father for the salvation of our souls. God's attributes are on display throughout the pages of scripture.
Elyse Fitzpatrick shows us from cover to cover we can see the love has for us in the Bible. She has written a book, which seems to be more geared toward women, but I think men can learn from this book as well, called, Finding The Love of Jesus From Genesis to Revelation. Fitzpatrick shows her readers that the Bible is all about Jesus Christ and it was written for us to know Him. When Jesus spoke to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, He showed them beginning with Moses that the Scriptures were about Him. Jesus also said in John 5:39 that the Bible testifies about Him.
Fitzpatrick continues to show us from various portions of scripture where we see the love of Jesus. Just like what Jesus did with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, she began with the books of Moses. Then she preceded to go with Israel's history and in the prophets. Of course, one place we see the love of Jesus on display is the gospel. You cannot mention with the gospel without the love of Jesus.
At the end of each chapter, there are study questions for the reader to answer as well as places to write as they answer each question. This book would be a very good small group Bible study for women, since the book is written for women. As I mentioned, earlier men will also benefit from this book as well. It is also a delight to see an author show the love of Christ in all Scripture in a time where a certain preacher wants Christians to unhitch the Old Testament from our faith.
Thanks Bethany House for letting me review this book.
