I love Christmas time. I love the lights, music, and some of the festivals. There are a few Christmas movies that my family and I watch every year. Yes, I do consider Die Hard a Christmas movie.
This time of year should be a joyous time for Christians. This is the time where we remember the fulfillment of the promise the Father gave to His people. The coming of the Messiah.
This is the time of the year where we look back to the coming of Christ in the most particular circumstances. Instead of coming like a might king with an army following Him, He came as a baby born in a manger. He was given to a man and woman who were not wealthy. He worked a 9 to 5 job instead of having people serve Him as every waking moment.
We give gifts to one another because Jesus was given gifts by the wise men. We sing about His birth because it was a fulfilled promise that brought hope to the people of God. As 21st century Christians, we look back to what God has done we also look forward to the return of the Messiah. This time, He will return like a conquering King. He will be on a horse with an army behind Him.
I do not know what traditions you have for Christmas. My hope is you will remember Jesus this Christmas and every Christmas after this year. We may not be commanded to remember Christ's birth, but we do this to remind ourselves of the precious gift given to us over 2,000 years ago. The gift of the only Son of God.
