In the doctrines of grace, one of the key teachings is total depravity. This states that man is sinful and corrupt ever since the Fall in the Garden of Eden. There have been many debates on this issue as well books written on the subject.
There are those who claim that man is not as bad as they could be especially when compared to some of the most infamous names in human history. Some do not understand sin because they do not understand the character of God.
In the book, Ruined Sinners to Reclaim, David Gibson and Jonathan Gibson has gathered a number of theologians to address the doctrine of total depravity. Theologians such as Albert Mohler, Mark Jones, Michael A.G. Haykin, and more look at this doctrine through the pages of the Bible and what church history has taught. This book also addresses sin and depravity from theological perspectives as well how it is handled in pastoral ministry.
This book in a continuation of a series on the doctrines of grace which begin in the book, From Heaven He Came and Sought Her, which dealt with definite atonement. If you were a fan of that book, then you will like this one even you do not agree with all the conclusions each author comes to.
I received this book from Crossway in exchange for an honest review.
