The Church Must Preach The Law

The Church must preach God's law. We are not trying to get justified through obedience to the law. We preach law to help the lost see they are lost. It was after all, Paul, who said,

What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. For apart from the law, sin lies dead. I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me (Romans 7:7-10).

We preach God's law to help people come to grips with the fact that they have to deal with God. They may only be thinking about civil authorities. But, in reality, their problem is with God. They rebel against Him.

Sexual Sin Kills

No generation is immune from sexual sin. The church has dealt with it for years and it has come in many forms. The church needs to address sexual sin, but most importantly, how to kill it.

Recently, Jared Longshore addressed the issue of sexual sin over at Founders based on Proverbs 5:

Pay Attention

Avoid The Strange Woman

Embrace Your Wife

Fear God
