Music Monday: Top 10 Albums of the Year and my Best of 2014 Playlist

Once again, another year of great music both on the Christian side and non-Christian side. I have to admit I listened to a lot of great worship albums this year while listening to ones from the main stream music industry. This year was a little tough to put together what I thought were the best albums of the year especially number one and two because they were both equally good. So here we go, my top 10 albums of 2014:

10. Hopefully Broken by Zimmerman

9. Attack by Disciple

8. Rise by Trip Lee

7. Below Paradise by Tedashii

6. Anomaly by Lecrae

5. After All These Years by Andrew Peterson

4. 30: Three Decades of Songs for the Church by Sovereign Grace Music

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Deluxe Soundtrack

2. Becoming Who We Are by Kings Kaleidoscope

1. Join The Triumph by Citizens & Saints

Now for you listening pleasure, for the past couple of years, I have made a best of albums of the year playlist on Spotify. So here is my playlist for the best of 2014 which a couple of the albums listed above are not among it. Please note: You must have an account on Spotify to hear the playlist.

Around The Web-December 12, 2014

If John Piper Rapped by Matt Smethurst

Church As The True Local by Jonathan Parnell

How Not To Read The News by Daniel Darling

3 Ways to Battle Spiritual Depression by Dave Jenkins

Monday morning, our city has some thick fog. Visibility was horrible. You could not even see more than 2 feet in front of you. As far as I know, there were not accidents that morning. 3 hours south of us in Dallas, Tx, they had fog as if the Apocalypse was upon us. A remote control drone with a camera takes a look as downtown Dallas in the midst of the fogpocalypse as it is being called.

Music Monday: Awesome God by R-Swift

I was watching a MMA fight not to long ago when one of the fighters was entering the cage with this song. It has the chorus to Rich Mullins' classic, "Awesome God," with lyrics written by R-Swift.

Lecrae Raps The Gospel In One Minute

This past Sunday at the Grammys, Lecrae became the first rapper to win best gospel album. Congrats to him on winning this award and for those who work with him to promote the gospel through hip-hop. Recently, Desiring God Ministries asked him to rap the Gospel in one minute:

Music Monday: The Year of Rap

As we come to a close on 2012, people start thinking about all the good and bad things this year then we start by thinking about what we need to do next year. One thing that I got more into this year was rap, Christian rap to be exact. Ever since February when I saw Lecrae at the Rock and Worship Roadshow, I have been listening to more rap music than I ever before. The only rap I listened to was the old dc Talk when they mixed rap with rock and soul. I want to share two rap albums that I have been enjoying this year, one of them came out last year, and the other was one of my favorite albums this year:

Also, earlier this year, our church did a youth rally where the theme was "Don't Waste Your Life," which we showed the video to Lecrae's song, Don't Waste Your Life, which is also the title of one of John Piper's books:
