When Did Evangelism Become A Burden?

Ever felt like the guy in this picture? Know some Christians who are like that? Sad to say that there more Christians in the church that dread evangelism. Why? Let me give you some reasons that I think evangelism is a burden to some:

1. Those who are legalistic tell Christians if they do not evangelize, they will end up in Hell.

2. Christians look at different gospel tracts and think if they miss one point, they ruined their chance of leading their friend to Christ.

3. They feel it's the pastor's job (these are probably the same ones who think ministry is done only by the pastor).

4. Some Christians feel they do not know the Bible well enough to share their faith.

5. Some Christians are scared if they never lead anyone to Jesus.

Some of these reasons sound childish and they are. I know I had my own struggle with evangelism, but thanks be to God, he has helped me overcome those difficulties. Every Christian should have the desire to evangelize whether its to their next door neighbor or the cashier at Wal-Mart. Evangelism needs to be out of love for God and people not duty. If you do it out of duty, then you will only look at people as a project.
