Book Review: Missional Moves by Rob Wagner and Jack Magruder

There has been a movement going on in churches for the past few years that some churches are wondering how did this get started. The movement is to be missional. A church being missional is fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20 to make disciples. The old way of doing, which is still effective in some cases, was make disciples in the four walls of the church. However, it does not always work that way. While people receive Jesus during a worship service, there are still people outside the church walls, who will never darken the doors of a church building to hear the gospel.

Many book have been published to help churches become missional in their communities. Missional Moves by Rob Wagner and Jack Magruder is one of them. In the beginning of the book, the authors mention this book was written by "practitioners for practitioners" for the purpose of equipping the local church as well as church plants with resources that has benefit their churches in becoming a missional community.

The subtitle to this book says, "15 tectonic shifts that transform churches, communities, and the world." The 15 "tectonic shifts" are the 15 chapters in this book that is divided into three parts. The first part deals with missional imagination that discusses becoming a church that engages in evangelizing the nations. Part 2 is about the local church being on mission and part 3 focuses on the people of God being on mission to complete the Great Commission.

As I mentioned earlier, there have being many books written for churches to become more missional. I am delighted to recommend this resource to all churches that seek to evangelize their cities.

Thanks Zondervan for letting me review this book.
