That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:1-3, ESV).
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6, ESV)
As Christians, we believe that one gets eternal life when we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the giver of eternal life, but not only that He is eternal life. Jesus said He is the life. John wrote that the life "was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us" (1 John 1:2).
We can look to Jesus as not only the source of life, but life itself. That is why we can worship Him. That is also why we need to share the gospel with those around us. Jesus is the life we need. Once we put our faith and trust in Him, we have crossed over from death to life.
