Book Review: Taking God Seriously by J.I. Packer

There are essentials to the Christian faith that believers must know to grasp what we truly believe. J.I. Packer, in his latest book, Taking God Seriously, explains those essentials. Packer's hope is not to give another book full of facts for Christians to know, also for discipling them to take God's business seriously.

There are eight chapters in this book that deals with essentials that every Christian is called to take seriously. Faith is the first chapter and Packer discusses what faith is. The following chapters talk about doctrine, Christian unity, repentance, the church, the Holy Spirit, baptism, and the Lord's Supper. Packer deals with these issues with biblical truth and how it applies to us in the 21st century. He also does it in a way so that new believers can be discipled as they read.

This is another fine piece of literature written by J.I. Packer and every believer, new and seasoned, should have in their library. This is also good from small group discussions.

Thanks Crossway for letting me review this book.
