It is based on my observation that some Christians make prayer a little harder than what it seems. Think about. What is prayer? A conversation to God. When you ask Christians on what they pray about, they give a variety of different answers. So, the question is what should Christians pray for? Consider Philippians 4:6:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Notice the word "everything" is in bold lettering. What should Christians pray for? Everything. Yes, everything from the mundane things in life to the most basic needs. In his book, Praying The Bible, Don Whitney wrote:
We may bring "everything by prayer" to God. Everything is something we may pray about. Every person, every object, every issue, every circumstance, every fear, every situation - everything in the universe is something we may bring before God. So every thought that enters your mind as you are reading a passage of Scripture - even if that thought has nothing to do with the text before you at the moment - is something you may bring to God.
If you have anything that concerns you, pray about it. If you have a struggle you just can't seem to shake, pray about it, If you have a lost dog, pray about it (Believe it or not, our church prayed that a family dog would be found and it was). God is a Father who delights in His children and desires for us to come to Him in prayer. Prayer is a gift from the Father that we have taken for granted.
As a parent, I want my children to come to me for anything no matter how ridiculous it may seem to me, but it may seem a big deal with them. Our Heavenly Father wants to do the same. Sometimes He will answer in ways we don't expect or answer in exactly the way we are asking.
