Seasons of Thanks

Thanksgiving is upon us and it is one of my favorite holidays. I love waking up and watching the parades (I mostly watch it for the floats and balloons) followed by getting together with family then possibly watching some football. Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect on the past year and be thankful.

For Christians, Thanksgiving should not be dedicated to one time a year where we have turkey and pumpkin pie, but it should all year long. The Christian life should not be a season of thanks, but seasons of thanks. In the Bible, there are number of verses that tell us to give thanks to the Lord for what He has done. We are also to give thanks to God for the body of Christ for the work of ministry they have done for the glory of God.

Seasons of thanks are not just reserved for when times are good, but when times are difficult. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says we are to give thanks in all circumstances (good and bad) for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. God is good even when life is hard and that is why we can give thanks to Him in all circumstances in every season of life.
