To Fight Sin, We Must Grow in God's Word

How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word...Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You (Psalm 119:9, 11).

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God (Romans 6:12-13).

...grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen (2 Peter 3:18).

One way for believers to continue to fight indwelling sin is to grow in God's Word. The following is from the devotional, The Heart of the Reformation

As we grow in our knowledge of and love for God's Word, we grow in our ability to recognize the sin in our own hearts and to identify temptation when it confronts us. Growing in God's Word also shows us God's glory, convincing us that He is better than anything sin has to offer. If we want to grow stronger against sin, we must grow in our understanding of God's Word.
