God Is Bigger Than Our Regrets

No matter who you or how old you are, we all have could have, would have, should have moments. Those times when we wished we made a different decision in the past. Some of you may wish you attend a different college. Others might wish they treated someone better. Parents, I am sure you have moments when you wished you handled something differently when it comes to raising your kids.

We all have regrets no matter how big or small. I have many regrets as it related to ministry, my walk with Jesus, how I treated people, and even times when family life was not so glamorous. If we are not careful, we will let those regrets define who we are and how we go about our day. The truth is those regrets can help motivation us in improving our day to day live whether it is at your job or in the home.

Here is what the amazing thing is, even though we may have regrets, God is not surprised by our lives. What do I mean by that? Psalm 139:16 says, "In your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them." God is sovereign and knows everything about you even the choices you make. Some choices do result in sin, which Christ's blood has covered. Other choices do not result in sin, but do lead us being sinned against or simply making a mistake that will haunt us for the rest of our lives.

Regrets are a normal part of life, but we have hope. God is still on his throne. Whatever regret you have, take it to the Father. He cares for you. This is not license for self-forgiveness. Self-forgiveness makes you a greater god than God himself. This is about knowing and believing that the Father loves you and cares for you even when you have regrets whether it is a result of a bad choice you made or when you have sinned against someone you know personally.
