Today is Valentine's Day, which is the day of the year men can buy their wives flowers without apologizing for something stupid they did. Today is also a day where some singles feel left out because they think there are unlucky in love. Today is also the day, if you are dating, not to listen to a Taylor Swift song.
Today is also a day to reflect on the love of God. God has perfect love for sinners because it is a never-ending love. It is an unconditional love. It is a love that will never die in spite of us. The Bible tells us that God is a holy God that must punish sin because it violates his holiness yet He loves sinners enough to send a Savior to rescue sinners from their sin.
Meditate on these verse as you reflect on the love God has for you:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers (1 John 3:16)
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)
We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19)
The main thing is "...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31, LSB).

Sin Cannot Separate Us
Romans 8:38-39 tells us that nothing can separate from the love of God in Christ. Yet sometimes we feel that our sin does. I am not talking about the sins you have committed before you became a Christian. I am talking about the sin you commit as a Christian even the ones you struggle with. Like it or not, every Christian struggles with sin. No one is exempt. Even the Apostle Paul wrote about his struggle in Romans 7. If you think your sin will somehow separate you from the love and acceptance God has for you, please read these words from J.D. Greear from his book, Gospel:
Our sin and our failures have not, and can never again, separate us from Him. He has put them away forever, as far as the east is from the west (Ps. 103:12). We have been credited, once and for all, the righteousness of Jesus Christ. He has said to us in Christ, "You are My beloved child. In you I am well pleased...I will never leave you or forsake you," and "surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of your life. You will dwell in My house forever" (Matt. 17:5; Heb. 13:5; Ps. 23:6, author paraphrase)
The Gospel is good news for all Christians because God has dealt with all our sin, past, present, and future, and no matter how many good days and bad days we have, we are never separated from the love of God in Christ.
